7-Step KEA UGCET Counselling Process
- Online Registration — auto-rolled from KCET. New candidates register at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in with KCET CET number + DOB. Pay processing fee (₹500-750).
- Document Verification — mandatory in-person verification at designated KEA centre. Carry: KCET admit card + rank card, 10th & 12th marksheets, study certificate (1st-12th), domicile certificate, Aadhaar, caste/income (if applicable), category certificates. Generates a verification slip.
- Option Entry — log in to KEA portal → Option Entry → enter unlimited college & branch preferences in order of your actual preference, not "safe" guesses. The algorithm allots the highest-ranked option you can secure.
- Mock Allotment — KEA releases a trial allotment based on options entered. Use this to revise / re-prioritise options before the final cut-off.
- Real Allotment Round 1 — seats allotted based on rank, options entered & reservation. You see your allotted college + branch.
- Choice Selection — choose one of 4 actions: (1) Accept & Freeze, (2) Accept & Consider higher in next round, (3) Accept & Consider mock-allotment in current round, (4) Reject & re-enter options.
- Fee Payment & College Reporting — pay full 1st-year tuition + KEA admission fee online (UPI/NEFT/RTGS). Download admission order. Report to allotted college within 7 days with all original documents.

Pro Tips for KEA Option Entry
- List options in genuine preference order, not "safe" choices. KEA's algorithm allots the highest-ranked option you can secure — being honest is always optimal.
- Add 30-50+ options minimum. More options = wider safety net.
- Mix tiers: top dream colleges → mid-tier likely → safe backups.
- Use the mock allotment. If your dream college doesn't show, you have time to add options below it.
- Don't blindly accept Round 1 allotment if you can do better. Choose "Accept & Consider higher" if a better seat is realistic in Round 2.
- Watch the mop-up & stray vacancy round. 15-20% of seats reopen after no-shows.
