About KCET 2026
KCET stands for Karnataka Common Entrance Test. It is the gateway examination for undergraduate professional courses in Karnataka — Engineering, Pharmacy, BSc Agriculture, BNYS, BVSc, BSc Nursing, BFD and BHSc — in over 220 government, private and university colleges affiliated to the state.
KCET is conducted annually by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), a government body under the Department of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka. The 2026 edition was conducted on 18 and 19 April 2026 at 250+ centres across all 31 districts of Karnataka, with limited centres in neighbouring states.
Through KCET ranks, KEA allocates seats in:
- Government engineering colleges — UVCE Bangalore, GEC Hassan, GEC Krishnarajpet, etc.
- Top private engineering colleges — RVCE, BMS, MSRIT, PESIT, BMSIT, Dayananda Sagar, NMIT, BMSCE, JSSATE, NHCE and 200+ more
- Pharmacy & Pharm-D colleges — Karnataka College of Pharmacy, Al-Ameen, KLE, JSS, Acharya, etc.
- Agriculture & Veterinary universities — UAS Bangalore, UAS Dharwad, KVAFSU

How to Apply — KCET 2026
UGCET Counselling 2026 Process
After results are announced, KEA conducts the UGCET counselling on its official portal. The process is fully online with a single in-person document verification step.
| Stage | What Happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Document Verification | Carry rank card + originals to a designated KEA centre. After verification, a verification slip is generated. |
| 2. Option Entry | Log in to cetonline.karnataka.gov.in, search colleges and branches, and enter unlimited options in order of your preference. |
| 3. Mock Allotment | KEA releases a mock allotment to help you revise your option list. Modify before the final cut-off. |
| 4. Real Allotment (Round 1) | Seats are allotted based on rank, options entered & reservation. You can accept (Choice 1), accept and consider higher options (Choice 2/3), or reject (Choice 4). |
| 5. Fee Payment & Reporting | Pay the fee online via KEA, download the admission order and report to the allotted college within the deadline. |
| 6. Round 2 & Mop-up | Vacant seats are filled in Round 2 and a final mop-up round, followed by an offline extended round at KEA office. |
Your option list is the single most important decision in UGCET counselling. Order colleges & branches by your actual preference — not by perceived "safe" choices. The algorithm allotts you the highest-ranked option you can secure with your rank, so being honest about preference is always optimal.

KCET 2027 Preparation Tips
Starting early for KCET 2027? These strategies separate top-1000 rankers from the rest:
- Master 1st & 2nd PUC NCERT-aligned textbooks first. KCET pulls 70–80% of questions directly from the PUC syllabus. Side-track to JEE/NEET reference books only after PUC is solid.
- Build a 4-hour daily study block. 1 hour each on Physics, Chemistry, Maths & Biology (or skip the irrelevant one). Consistency beats sprints.
- Solve previous 10 years' KCET papers. Patterns repeat. Many KCET 2026 questions were paraphrased from 2021–2025 papers.
- Attempt at least 30 full-length mock tests. Use them to fine-tune time-per-question and OMR shading speed — the actual hand fatigue is real.
- Don't ignore Kannada (if you're a Karnataka student). The Kannada test on Day 2 afternoon is for Horanadu/Gadinadu Kannadigas seeking those reservations — a 60-mark booster.
Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Organic Chemistry, Calculus & Genetics together account for 50% of marks.
Saturday full-length, Sunday subject-wise. Track accuracy and weak chapters.
30-min reverse revision before sleep locks the day's topic into memory. Non-negotiable.
